Henry Gray, an anatomist and surgeon at St George’s Hospital Medical School in London,
first published his book on human anatomy in 1858. He died of smallpox 3 years later
at the age of 34,

but his legacy lives on over one and a half century later with the publication of
the first edition of Gray’s Surgical Anatomy, written by a team of authors led by
